Sanding small thin wood

>For larger pieces, a drum sander would do.

I would like to laminate thin pieces of wood, about 1/16" thick (like veneer) to make pen blanks. The pieces are usually 3/4" wide, and maybe 5" long. These pieces came from cutting pen blanks with the bandsaw, and are reasonably uniform. So what I think is needed is thickness sanding.

I am not familiar with drum sanders, and whether they are able to handle such small pieces.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated !!!
