Mapl Burl Vessel w/pic

>Hello All,

This is a piece of maple burl that my dear friend Ernie Williams(AKA: Ernie in INdy from Badger Pond) gave to me over the Holidays. It is the second piece that I've submitted for jury in the upcoming local multi media show, here in Indy. A new form for me that was kind of fun. The wood, however, was full of something that dulled my tools faster than I could believe. Nearly every 3 inches of cutting, the gouge had to go back to the wheel. It was unreal!

I've titled it "Ernie's Burl". It's about 5.5" tall and about 3 wide at the base. Finished with 4 coats of Rockler wipe on gel poly, and then a wipe of Lee Valley Conservators Wax. No buffs.

All comments/critiques welcome.

Thanks for taking a peek. And thank you for the lovely burl Ernie!

Jennifer
