Dang - First Bowl Now Firewood

Charlie Anderson in Southern Maryland
>I'm a newbie who has turned 1 bad pen and 1 okay pen. Last summer, Mike Schwing helped me turn a rough cherry bowl. Yesterday I began to finish it.

I has the sides down to about 3/16" but was having a hard time getting a smooth cut on the inside. Got careless with my gouge and a catch tore the edge off. I was just repositioning after finishing a cut. Maybe I have my tool rest too close to the bowl. I'll check some videos and see.

Of well, I'll try using a jam chuck and finish the bottom for some practice. I need to cut some wood so I can get more practice.

Thanks for the moral support.
