Turning Archive 2004

Subject:
Need your lathe input

Capt Skip
>For an introduction I will start with a story. A year ago a freind advertised he has some Apple chips and if anyone wanted some to ask. I use my grill and smoker year round and called him to get some. Well when I saw his work I got addicted. I just had to turn something.
Thanks to Mike Schwing I owe you.
Anyway I have been using my Rockwell spindle lathe for the past year and now feel I have some technique issues I can't get around and want a new lathe. Proverbial champagne taste with beer budget. Have drooled over the DVR3000 but with my 1k budget I am thinking just the std 3000. Would like to get some opinions and your thoughts.
