Subject:
Tool Bits for Small Turnings

Paul Reed
>I am looking for some help on making some tool bits to use with a small 7x10 metal lathe. I am using the lathe to make small wood-turnings for antique model cars that I am building from wood. The tool-holder uses 1/4" square tool bits. I have metal-working bits but only one wood-turning bit. I need to make a bit that would allow for a square shoulder cut on wood turned as small as 1/16" to 1/8" in diameter. Does anyone have any pics of some toolbits or suggestions as to how bits could be made from 1/4" blank tool stock? Any help would be appreciated.
