Turning Archive 2004
Tom In Red Deer
Here are a couple of pics of my latest effort. I roughed turned this piece a couple of weeks ago. It is spalted poplar, courtesy of our local beaver. It is 9" dia and about 9" tall. The foot is not done yet as I am letting this sit now to finish drying for a couple of months.
I thought it was already dry until a crack appeared in the lip. Once it has quit moving I will fill the crack with ground turqoise.
To me this thing looks like a giant eyeball and with it sitting on a shelf in the house I feel like I am being watched.
Any and all comments welcome. Turning this "big" stuff is very new to me...I usually do miniatures, 1" tall or so.
