Subject:
curly red oak in Baltimore

Mike Schwing from Md.
>I'm not a fan of turning oak, but I found a couple of absolutely gorgeous large curly red oak logs yesterday at the local log dump. I thinK I'm the only turner who ever goes in there other than occasional firewood searchers. I'm posting this because I'd hate to see them go to waste. The logs are all cut in half down the pith and 18-20" in diameter so they'd make really nice bowls. I saw the figure in these logs from 20' away.

I am having some trouble with my back and the cutting I did yesterday and the day before has me done with the chainsaw till the end of the year.

If anyone local would like to get these logs please contact me and I'll arrange it, but I can't help with the cutting and moving.
