Subject:
Pole Lathe

>Hi there,

I am just about to construct a pole lathe. I know these things are associated with green woodworking. Should I anticipate having any problems turning well seasoned hardwoods?

Another question. Any of you out there tried turning bowls on a pole lathe? I know it can be done, but imagine there will be additional stresses and strains involved, as well as different dimensions to take into account when I'm constructing the lathe.

I tend to be a neanderthal, but only use hand tools because my workshop is under a bunch of flats (apartments - US) and noise is an issue.

I'd be thankful for your thoughts on the above.

Simon
