Whatever works

>While waiting for my Wolverine and grinding wheel to get here, I decided I had to do something to sharpen my gouge. Spied my disk sander in the corner. Hmmmm...laid the tool on the table with the bevel flat against the disk and rotated it. Now I am getting shavings instead of saw dust. :-) Also wondering if a chuck is absolutely necessary to turn small bowls or is there another way? Chucks are a lot of $$$. Wish my books would get here. :-(
