>I just completed a 2 day hands on class with Stuart. All I can say is if you have the chance to take it, do so. Stuart is passionate about his work and is an excellent teacher. Go prepared to work. It's fast paced, and covers lots of ground. You'll learn the "orthodox" method of making vee's, coves, ogee's, rolling beads, pommel cuts, and more. The second day is a quick review of the first then off to bowl making where you'll learn to use a push cut inside and out with the bowl gouge. It leaves a beautifully finished surface that requires minimal sanding.
I spent about 6 hrs each day standing at the lathe practicing the methods with Stuart right there guiding you along. It would have taken me years, if ever, to learn this stuff on my own.
