>I may be doing a job turning the base of a column. The finished piece would be 7" thick x 24" in diameter. The wood will be redwood. I have a 36" Rockwell lathe and was thinking about turning it on the outboard side. I could do it in "layers" and then glue it together. I would like to slow down the rpm's more than my step pulley allows. Any thoughts?
