Subject:
1442 speed change

Dennis Taylor (Akron, Ohio)
>I got a 1442 about a month ago, and changing the speeds with 2 fisted hard, called Jet, clean with wd40 and then sprayed with silicon lube, still hard, they sent me a new replacement, it isn't a problem other than it is hard to change speeds, usually 2 hands with force, and I believe it is the cosmoline coating that causes the problem, new one is harder yet, I have cleaned with lacquer thinner, haven't sprayed anything else on it yet, is there a system someone knows that will get the degreaser into the reeves pulleys to clean them and the shaft?..lathe works great, but hard as HE-- to perform speed changes..anyone else have problem?...solutions?...tks Dennis
