Turning Archive 2004
>I got a section of a swamp chestnut oak yesterday that was blown down by Frances. The forestry guy said it was the 2nd largest in the state. I could only work on a big limb, and it was about 30 inches in diameter. This is the kind of oak that has big wide leaves and big acorns. The center of it is brown, and with the contrasting white sapwood, it is nice looking. You only see them down here in people's yards. It was hollow, and that's why it was blown over by the hurricane. Have any of you turned it?
