Foot Question for John Lucas

I posted a question on WOW about using a foot or not. I saw you mention in reference to Jenniferís Purpleheart bowl you like a small foot on bowls, but it sounds like you view it extra labor on a utilitarian bowl. If I understand you correctly is this because the foot decreases stability on a utilitarian bowl or the lift is not worth the extra effort on a utilitarian bowl? I am having a hard time with a bowl foot and have resorted to drawings with and without at this time before I start turning which may help till I get more experience.

Thanks, George
