Subject:
maple burl thingamajig *PIC*

Mike Schwing from Md.
>This monster whatchacallit is 20" in diameter. Not sure exactly what it is, but it will surely find its way to hanging on a wall somewhere. I don't really know what I was trying to achieve with the turning other than some wall art to display the stunning figure in this maple burl.

Finished with 1 coat of Watco, then 5 or so coats of Waterlox, then rubbed with 0000 steel wool and beeswax/orange oil to produce a low sheen. The picture doesn't do this even half justice.

The edges that aren't "spiky" were carved by me to appear more natural as the edges were bandsawn into a circle, I didn't like the way it looked.
