Subject:
New (old) Jet 1236

Rob in Kansas
>I posted a question last week about looking for my first lathe. Steve, William, & Brad were correct, it is a blue Jet 1236. It's in what I would say very good shape for one 9 years old. When he included several extras I felt it was a decent deal, probably nothing gloatable, but fair. So I gave in to my impulses and bought it. My dad has already suggested I put it where he can use it and I haven't even gotten it home!

In addition to the stock accessories it had a 4" straight tool rest, an S curved tool rest, a drive extension (not sure what practical application it is?), a 3 jaw expandable chuck, a second smaller live center, and a drill chuck. I think that's all, but I'm not sure.

I'll have to order a couple gouges and as I wait for them to come in get a lesson or two. I'm anxious to see what I can do with the spalted sycamore I have, and I have the apple too...

Thanks for the input guys!

Rob
