Subject:
Finish Question

Donna Banfield
>Hi

I have a question about 'mixing' finishes. I have a large box elder platter with some spectacular red coloring. I sanded to 800 grit, cleaned off the dust with air and a tack cloth. Put down a coat of sanding sealer and one coat of Waterlox High Gloss finish. I have some General Finishes outdoor UV inhibitor finish. Can I safely put down a coat or two of this over the Waterlox without causing problems - not binding to the surface or getting an orange peal rippling across the surface, etc?

I know, I know, I really should have skipped the Waterlox and went with the GF coatings, but, I spaced the fact that I had that finish, remembering too late.

Thanks in advance for all your help.
