Subject:
Chestnut Oak Bowl

Bill Grumbine, Kutztown PA
>Good afternoon all

After reading of Steve's quandry in getting his chestnut oak log out of his truck, and answering with my own experiences, I thought I would post a picture of a chestnut oak bowl I turned recently. Steve, this is to encourage you to persevere. This stuff is heavy, it turns like concrete, but the figure and color are worth the effort. This is also a crotch piece, although I almost lost the crotch grain, which can be seen in the upper left hand quadrant.

This bowl is approximately 11" x 4" x 5/32" thick, finished with Watco Danish Oil and buffed.

Thanks for taking a look, and Steve good luck turning your find.

Bill
