Subject:
Spalted silver maple hollow form (PIC)

Mike Schwing from Maryland
>Lightly spalted. About 8" wide by 6" tall. Pretty thin for me, about 1/8-3/16" walls. Warped a bit, doesn't sit quite perfectly straight. Finished with lacquer and buffed on wheels.

Critique welcomed. I like the form overall but am not totally happy with the curve upwards towards the opening. Might have been a bit better if it were flatter for a distance and then curved more sharply upwards. Next time maybe.

It checked a bit while drying on the lathe so I didn't go nuts finishing it to perfection. However, what appear to be tool marks near the rim in the photo are not.
