? If I had a toolrest made....

I've been using the BestWoodTools round toolrests and really like them, but if I found a tool steel the same as the Ellsworth tool, and had someone weld me a toolrest out of it, what would I wind up with? The gouge never needs touching up, its harder than the toolrest. The toolrest gets beat up damned quick. Not really beat, but just enough little deflections and nicks in it to keep things moving as smoothly as they could.

Thanks.
