Subject:
Dang. Broken spindle lock collar (3520a)

Mike Schwing from Maryland
>Had the spindle locked to remove an adapter, was a bit of a struggle, thing was on there tight. BANG! The iron collar that mates with the spindle lock button broke in to three pieces.

Looks like its gonna be a large issue getting a new one back on. Not something it looks like I can tackle, big bearings, keys, alignment of pulleys, etc...

I can see Powermatic shipping me a new headstock. Anybody else have a similar incident?

Looks like I'll be doing a lot of roughing, and no finishing. If that spindle adapter had that through hole in it this wouldn't have happened. Would have been no need to remove it. Argh.
