turning green pecan

>I am very new to this, but lucked into some pecan that I have started attempting bowls on. It's pretty wood with some curl and "spaltish"-looking fungal stuff. I read the "keep it wet" threads here and have tried the soap thing, but think that the best thing might be to carefully air dry as I have gotten a lot of massive movement and some cracking. If anyone has pecan related advice on drying, turning, finishing, or else please advise. thanks, Will
