Subject:
Sealing spalted wood

Guy
>I have just acquired a truckload of spalted maple :) :) and I was wondering, do I seal the ends of the logs? I will rough out a few bowls today and tomorrow so should I seal them also or just leave them be? The tree was on the ground in chunks for about a year and the spalting is evident when you cut through with a chainsaw, some of it is punky but by and large the wood is sound. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Guy
