Subject:
"Aircraft" drill bits?

JL
>I found a nice book on turning spirals while I was at the Highland Woodworking sale a week or so back. "The Basics of Turning Spirals" by Bill Bowers.

Anyway, he uses surplus aircraft drill bits. One of the nice bits that he has is a large bit with a MT end. It is "hollow" and in the original application had oil pumped through it to cool and lubricate it while cutting metal. He uses it with an air compressor to cool the bit and help get the chips out. He has mounted an air fitting on the side.

I'd really like one or two of these bits. I think that it would work quite nicely for certain drilling applications on the lathe. Anyone have any idea where to find these bits?

TIA
