Subject:
Making aluminum caliper? *PIC*

LARRY BISBEE
>I would like to make my own calipers out of aluminum, but can anyone tell me the best thickness to use, the best way to cut the caliper shapes from a sheet of aluminum, and would aluminum alloy 5052-H32 be okay to use for this project? In a demonstration at the 2008 Southern States Symposium, Avelino Samuel used three different sizes of these calipers to measure the thickness of his vessels and I have also seen them used before in other demonstrations. Suggestions and comments would be greatly appreciated.
