Last turning for a while *PIC*

Craig Daymon
>A friend is getting married in June and I promised them a platter. I managed to get it turned before the lathe is taken by its new owner. It is 19.75" in diameter, turned from 2.5" thick stock. It started out about 1/4 inch over 20", fitting between the bed ways on (formerly) my 3520. Turning went pretty well, but I had a very little end grain tear on the inside curve. The biggest problem was making the mistake of power sanding. The softer, partly spalted area sanded away much quicker than the rest causing some undulation in an otherwise very flat pan.

Anyway, here's the pics.
