Subject:
holes for Niles SS stoppers

Ed Karch
>I was out yesterday looking for the perfect reamer to size wood for Ruth's stoppers. couldn't find one. Talked with Scott Hurley who has the same problem. We thought about router bits and other expensive solutions. Came up with turning a bit the same size as the stopper and covering with sand paper to ream out an undersized hole. All this thinking wore me out so I went home and took a nap. Woke up and went out to my collection of old bits and selected a 3/4" spade bit from the rusty pile. Ground off the sides to a proper Niles taper and chucked it in the drill press. Worked perfectly. A rack of stoppers will go off to the winery today.
