Subject:
Wolverine Jig Knob Replacement?

>I have seen variations of replacements of the hard to grip brass knob on the Wolverine fingernail jig: Turned wood, plastic wing nuts, and other solutions.

Is there an easy way to get the brass knob off and reuse the locking bolt? Heat? Screw off, locking with a crescent wrench? Saw off and replace?

Thanks for any thoughts. My hands are having trouble locking it down.

I especially have a problem with my shortened Sorby bowl gouge where the flute end ramps against the spring and slides.

So thats another question, beside not buying another Sorby, it seems there could be a better design to avoid that slippage. I have been forced to learn to hand sharpen!
