Subject:
hollow form drying question

Steven Kubien
>Evening everyone,

I have turned exactly one hollow form and it was with dry wood and a home made tool. A lot of thinking (and some uneasiness/fear) led me to a captured rig and now I want to explore forms more and more.

In working with green wood to be finish-turned when dry, how thick do you leave the walls and bottom? I assume I should aim for the 10% rule like with bowls but I thought I should ask first. Do I need to consider anything significant regarding the opening?

Thanks,
Steve Kubien
