Mom's Gavel *PIC*

Molly Winton
>Well I made the gavel today. This was a perfect exercise to prove to me why I make hollow forms and bowls, and stay far away from spindles that require precision, measuring, duplication (one side looks the same as the other), etc. ICK!! By the way, making coves sucks! I like the head, but am not too fond of the handle.

I have an increased respect for all of you spindle turners.

The head is 3 1/4" long X 1 7/8" diameter. The overall length is 9". It is finished with microcrystaline burnishing compound and wax. South American mesquite.
