Subject:
Might be time to build a vacuum setup

steve antonucci
>Kicking around adding vacuum to my setup, and I wondered the following:

1.) If I make spoons, can I make a tiny vacuum setup to hollow the bowls? Too little surface area to hold securely?

2.) 4" big enough for most bowls? 6"?

3.) How much vacuum do you need to pull to hold something? What's a good source for the parts?

4.) I assume I can use the same pump setup for flatwork veneering?

5.) I envision the chuck being a well sealed piece of MDF turned round with a depression on a small faceplate. Gasket material on the front only... anything else?

Thanks

Steven
