Turning Archive 2008
>I turn a few hollow forms. I make it a point to orient it on the lathe so that i can leave the tail center mark on the bottom. This is so that when I reverse it later to clean up the bottom, I can bring the tail center back up into the same mark.
It occurred to me that if I had a revolving tail center that would accept a No.2 Morse taper, I could put my diver spur in it and it would free wheel. That way, I could orient the turning either way and still use the tail stock to center it.
Does anyone make a such a thing? Or, how about a drive spur that is made to fit some thing like the Oneway live center?
