Green Sandlewood- Those Who Know

>When I was down in Greensboro for the Symposium, I bought a 3"x6" block of very green Sandlewood. I have cut it into two 3x3's and rounded them, leaving the wax on the ends. I have no experience with Sandlewood. I would like to turn some boxes out of it.

For those who know about this wood, what would you suggest? Should I just leave the rounds up on the shelf until they get good and dry, soak them in denatured alcohol or what?
