Mixed Media piece *PIC*

>Here is one I did last October in Texas

Striped maple 9 1/2 " diameter partially dyed very light blue with one coat of Mahoney oil and fused sheet, frit, stringer, and powdered glass. First in the weather series, title is rain using Native American symbols tells the story of the cycle of the sun heating the waters and forming clouds, the story then moves to the ripple of rain seen in the wood finally falling on the soil to nourish the corn. I found designing mixed media pieces to be very challenging. One can just chose one as a frame to present the other without any real relationship between the two media. One method for integrating mixed media is to continue patterns or story lines from one into the other thus binding the two media into one piece. Comments invited
