Subject:
Siberian Elm HF (thanks to Andy DiPietro) PICS

Mike Rubes, Apex, NC
>Hi all,

It's been a while for a pic from me, but I really have been busy in the shop. I got this wonderful piece of wood from Andy back at Bill Grumbine's picnic in July. I roughed the piece in Sept and finally got time to finish it. The siberian elm was wonderful to turn and had a very pleasant aroma.

This piece is about 5 inches high about 4 inches across. It's a little thick (1/4 inch or so) at the bottom, but fairly thin on the sides and top. The finish is Tried and True Varnish followed by a Beall buffing, skipping the white diamond step.

I like the little burl clusters around the top. I've not done many pieces where the collar is part of the wood, but I like it and will do more.

Comments and critiques are welcomed and encouraged.

Thanks for looking,

Mike
