Question about box lid fit

>I usually make a vacuum fit for small boxes, but I wanted the lid on a cocobolo box I just made loose enough to lift without picking the rest of the box off the table. I made the fit on this one as loose as I dared without making it sloppy, but it still has bit too much suction.

Is there a good way to get a loose lift next time without a sloppy fit? Perhaps a tapered flange?

Any good way to fix the one already made? Machine some air relief groves in the flange? Drill some tiny air holes? Fill the base with lead? Super glue it to the table? Wire a CO2 cartridge to a trigger on the lid?
