>I often need to drill a hole in a box lid for the knob or finial. I've usually drilled all the way through but then I have to decorate the inside. It's hard to drill a really shallow hole because of the drill points. So you end up turning the hole which is time consuming.

Today I pulled a milling cutter out of my metal lathe tool box and used that. Perfect. It cuts a fast accurate hole that has a perfectly flat bottom. I think a straight router bit might work as well. I'll try that later when I get time.
