Subject:
Hunter tool rim cutting *PIC*

>I was working on my article on using the hunter tool yesterday and thought I might give you a little preview.

There are 4 shots showing how to use the tool for cutting and undercut rim and a bowl with lip.

I turn most of the bowl shape with a bowl gouge because it's quicker. I save the Hunter tool for what it's best at. Clean final cuts and doing odd shaped pieces like undercut rims and bowls with lips too steep for a bowl gouge.

This shot is showing the angle of the tool as it cuts up toward the rim. Notice the bevel is rubbing and the tool is tilted only slightly beyond vertical.
