Subject:
Lacquer Turned white question?

Barry Irby
>I have gotten into trouble. I turned a spalted sycamore HF that was wet. I sprayed the outside with Deft lacquer that may be been satin. Not sure about the satin, there was a can of it sitting around and I may have used it instead of gloss. Anyway, I thought I was sealing the exterior so that it would dry to the interior thinking this would slow it down and reduce cracking. (OK, I'm an Idiot.) The finish turned white mostly on the end grain. It appears to be in the wood. This was not a blank, it is turned to its final thickness or about an 1/8". Any suggestions?
