>Hi Gang,

O.K. I am turning some ornaments starting with 2" stock of Tulip wood for the globe. I have some 2" material that leaves plenty of room to complete the finial. However, it seem wasteful using a 2" blank for a finial. At the same time, if I cut the blank to 1" pieces that seems a bit small for the size globe I like turning. I am drilling a 1/2 hole through the globe and hollowing from there. I do not mean to seem difficult about this but I am wondering if I am missing the big picture. What size blanks do you start with turning your finials?
Thanks, Vince
