Subject:
Tree mystery

>I was picking up some free walnut this weekend at my BIL's neighbor, and he showed me a tree that neither of us could even hazard a guess.

What I recall immediately was that the tree was completely covered with pins under the bark, so it's birdseye something. The overall height was 30' or so, with a short main trunk 7'? and many limbs. The leaves were ridged and almost completely round (and yellow after the color change).

We both know a lot of the more common trees, but this one was "out of place" in the area. I looked online in a couple of place, and nothing struck me.

Any guesses?

Steve
