50 year old box *PIC*

>The blank for this box was 3/4 walnut face glued with white glue (we called it polyvinyl glue.) The boards have changed dimension slightly over the years revealing the glue lines. The outside was turned with a spindle gouge used as a scraper. The inside was hollowed with a skew used as a scaper. The finish is many coats of lacquer, sanded and polished with pumice and then rottenstone, both mixed with oil. Waxed with floor wax.

No chucks were available. The blank was attached directly to the face plate with screws. I did use a wooden jam chuck to turn the top of the lid.

The form was modeled after a tobacco can.
