>This is a handy rotating and sliding platform I devised to anchor the end of the bowl gouge when the angle of attack on a medium depth bowl places the gouge over the bed of the lathe. By firmly anchoring the end of the gouge, you can overcome the initial grab and torque that can be generated when the metal first engages wood. I can return to any part of the interior with confidence and take very small cuts at random. This rest has enhanced my ability to work on bowls with very thin walls.
