Subject:
Plate with Saueracker Shell center *PIC*

Craig Daymon
>Here is my first project completed using the Axminster Eccentric chuck available from Craft Supplies. It is a shallow purpleheart plate with a center plug of cherry. The plug has a round bottom and the top has a Saueracker shell turned in it. (The Saueracker shell is described in Mike Darlow's second book.) It's not quite the shell as that would involve carving away to create nodes on the end of the spirals. The turning part was essentially the same.

I don't consider it to be a functional dish with its rounded plug bottom. The dish was meant to draw focus to the center plug. There is a slight rim turned in the dish around the plug.
