Subject:
Camphor burl vase.... *PIC*

Mike Stafford
>I know it is not a box! I have had this piece of wood for quite a while and I have wondered how I was going to turn it. Finally I decided to try. It is turned end grain wise and I used my Sorby multi-tool and my Hunter Tools in conjunction with a box rest so I had extended reach inside the bowl. It is about 1/8" thick at the rim and thickens to about 1/4" at the bottom.

I have always been fond of the "snifter" form and I don't know if I got it right or not. I left the inside sanded smooth but unfinished except for the top inch or so. The smell from the camphor permeates the display case.

This piece is 5" in height and 5 1/2" in diameter. Comments appreciated....
