Tonight's Chat: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Steve Russell
>Hello to the group,

Please join us tonight for our weekly Turning Chat. This week our topic will be:

Wood Properties - The Good, The Bad And The Ugly Properties Of Various Woods: We've had tons of requests for an all wood night. We will be discussing the various working and turning properties of woods such as: How does certain wood turn? Does it take a crisp line? Does it fuzz? Does it gum up sandpaper? Can it be turned green?

Can it be turned kiln dried? What about structural strength - can you turn a thin walled bowl? Can you turn a thin spindle, or leg? Will it have enough strength to be weight bearing at a particular thickness? Through the mutual sharing of our experiences in these weekly chats (both good and bad), we all increase our knowledge and advance our overall skill set. Join us as we discuss the good, the bad and the ugly properties of wood.

We will be voting for the all-time most favorite turning wood. Come and cast your vote!

We will start the chat with a 15 minute review of 2 selected works by our WC friends. If you are interested in having your work reviewed at the turning chat, remember to email Ron Sardo: (ron@simplyturning.com) 1 or 2 (max.) photos of some of your recent work (completed or unfinished, in process etc.) for our "Show and Tell" session. Please indicate whether you are submitting the photos as "Completed Work" for a critique, or as an "Assistance Needed" submission that you would like some type of help, or assistance with.

Turning Chat room opens at 9:00pm EDT (For meet and greet)
Show-N-Tell starts at 9:30pm EDT
Main Topic starts at 9:45pm EDT
Post Chat Wrap-Up starts at 10:30pm EDT (For extended discussions if desired)
