Subject:
A "Distinctive" tool handle *PIC*

Brian Hahn in SW Wisconsin
>The challenge this month was to turn a tool handle (basic spindle turning). The only requirement was that it had to be functional. I made a brace of my standard handles, then made this one for fun.

This handle is for those really "hot" turnings. The handle is air cooled with through holes from two directions, including several holes to air cool the tang. It is hickory, 1-1/2" x 12-1/2" with a copper pipe ferrule. The handle was distressed with a skew, a hand saw and a drill, painted with black gesso and acrylic paints, and then sanded clean and sealed with a 1# cut of shellac.
