Turning Archive 2007
>Hello to the group,
Please join us this Wednesday night for our weekly Turning Chat. This week our topic will be:
Getting Started With Craft Shows: If you're running out of room to store all of those completed turning projects, a good way to lighten your load is to start selling some of them at local art and craft shows. Not only can you make some money, but you can gain valuable experience selling to the public. In addition, you can begin to market yourself as a woodturning artist/craftsperson, which will help you later if you decide to start selling to galleries.
How do you get started? How do you find a good show to showcase your work? What type of booth and related selling materials do you need? How much product should you bring to the show? What about sales? Will you accept only cash, or checks and credit cards as well? Join us as we discuss getting started with art and craft shows.
If you're already selling at art and craft shows, send a photo to Ron of your booth setup and join us as we help the new folks get started on the right foot. You experiences will be invaluable to those who are taking those first few steps into retail sales to the general public.
We will start the chat with a 15 minute review of 2 selected works by our WC friends.
If you are interested in having your work reviewed at the turning chat, remember to email Ron 1 or 2 (max.) photos of some of your recent work (completed or unfinished, in process etc.) for our "Show and Tell" session. Please indicate whether you are submitting the photos as "Completed Work" for a critique, or as an "Assistance Needed" submission that you would like some type of help, or assistance with.
Turning Chat room opens at 9:00pm EDT (For meet and greet)
Show-N-Tell starts at 9:30pm EDT
Main Topic starts at 9:45pm EDT
Post Chat Wrap-Up starts at 10:30pm EDT (For extended discussions if desired)
See you there!
