Tonight's Chat: Finding Free Wood To Turn! :-)

Steve Russell
>Hello to the group,

Please join us tonight for our weekly Turning Chat. This week our topic will be:

Finding Free Wood To Turn: No matter how long you've been turning, one thing is for sure... You need lots and lots of wood to feed your turning habit, welcome to the addiction! Yes, you can just buy all of your turning squares and blanks, but that can get really expensive. Also, you loose much of your ability to orient the grain properly when you purchase pre-cut blanks.

Most turners, myself included, enjoy the fact that a significant amount of the wood we turn is from local areas (salvage, reclaimed, rescued, repurposed etc.) and is typically obtained either free, or at a very low cost. There are numerous places where you can obtain free green wood for your turning projects, you just have to look around a wee bit. Join us as we discuss innovative ways to find free green wood logs in the area where you live.

We will start the chat with a 15 minute review of 2 selected works by our WC friends.
If you are interested in having your work reviewed at the turning chat, remember to email Ron 1 or 2 (max.) photos of some of your recent work (completed or unfinished, in process etc.) for our "Show and Tell" session. Please indicate whether you are submitting the photos as "Completed Work" for a critique, or as an "Assistance Needed" submission that you would like some type of help, or assistance with.

Turning Chat room opens at 9:00pm EDT (For meet and greet)
Show-N-Tell starts at 9:30pm EDT
Main Topic starts at 9:45pm EDT
Post Chat Wrap-Up starts at 10:30pm EDT (For extended discussions if desired)

See you there!
