Turning Archive 2007
Here are a handful of the elm bowls I finished-turned this summer. The bowls came two different elms, both huge. The blue bowl is the smallest, at 12 inches, the others from 13 to 15. The blue bowl had ugly (spalted?) blotches on it and after wiping it down with tung oil and it still looked ugly, I poured in some blue printer ink from a refill kit and finished off with some polyutherane. Its shape is not entirely to my satisfaction but the color surprised me, especially on top of tung oil.
